    Today is very relaxing

Thursday, August 24, 2006, 03:53 PM CST [General]

Today has been very relaxing.  Tonight I have a committee call and I'm going to spend a good portion of tonight updating A TBI's Corner.  I gave myself the deadline of having it finished by Saturday.    I should find out hopefully by tomorrow if Senator Coates will be able to attend the TBI Raiders training.  Hopefully everything runs smoothly that night.  I found out the building I checked out is really for sell for $28,000 dollars.  Today I receive two more fundraisers in the mail.  October is when I have it planned to do a fundraiser.  I have gotten something like 22 different kinds of fundraisers.  Well some of them sell the same kind of things.  I have got to make some new signs for the training event.  I need to remember to get some name tags for it and I can't think of what else I need to get.  It feels like I try thinking of everything right now my head will go spinning and I'll need to take a looong nap again.  I have a research committee call tonight.  The new applications are out for members to apply to be on the National Youth Leadership Network's governing boards, committees or to be a resource consultant.  I've decided not to apply to be on a committee since in this next year I'm going to try to really make a difference in the lives of Oklahoma's youth that live with disabilities.

    Having fun

Wednesday, August 23, 2006, 04:08 PM CST [General]

I've just finished emailing one of my cousins to see if she can give me a ride home the day I need to be at the capital.  Then I got a letter in the mail saying when I have a meeting for the state advisory panel I am on.  Then in two weeks I have two committee meetings for the national organization I'm part of.  I should know by the 30th of this month which state contacts of mine will be able to attend the training that will be going on for TBI Raiders.  Then on the 31st this month from 5-7pm I'm going to be working at the booth for Lincoln County Democrats at the Lincoln County Fair.  Then the 21 & 22 of September I have a state conference to attend.

    Ow my head hurts

Tuesday, August 22, 2006, 07:05 PM CST [General]

DayOkay I've been thinking way to much today.  My head is killing me.  See this is what happens when my head starts hurting so bad, it doesn't matter if I take meds for the migraine or not if hurts bad enough I will break into tears.  But it's not hurting that bad...yet.  I've started getting details finalized for the training for TBI Raiders that will be taking place on Sept. 12 at 6pm.  I may or may not be going to the capital that morning for a study that is going to be done on Traumatic Brain Injury.  I've just got to make sure I've got a ride to and back that day.  Then later that night will be the TBI Raiders training for potential volunteers.  I'm going to be speaking, a neuropsychologist, a physical therapist, a teacher, and either some candidates like Gov. Henry & Congressman Istook & some others who have been supportive of TBI Raiders since I started it when I was in college or either it will be people representing them who will be there.  I've got to get a schedule worked out for this event and make sure everything is ready for that day.  Next week I may or may not be meeting with the FCCLA (was FHA before they went all 'politically correct' and changed the name) club at Wellston.  I invited TJ, Janet, and JRod to come to the training but haven't a clue if they'll be able to since I just emailed TJ today about it.  Then I've also been emailing and talking to advisors for either some high school organizations at Wellston High School and Chandler High School (well one from there actually) or a college disability organization.  Remember that little rabbit on Alice to Wonderland and what he used to say?  "So many things to do and so little time to do them" I think that's what he would say anyways, but that's how I feel.

    It's crazy 'round here : )

Monday, August 21, 2006, 08:46 PM CST [General]

WhatOkay where do I begin is the question.  I went by my ol' high school to talk to Mrs. Perdue about the TBI Raiders training.  She gave me some dates that would best work for FCCLA and I told her I would get back with her.  Then I went downtown Wellston to look at a building that is for sell for $25,000.00.  The building would be used for the meetings for TBI Raiders and be the building for the organization.  Then I came home and emailed a vast majority of my state contacts about what is going on and asking them for some help.  So now I've got to look for some grants, do some fundraisers, get some donations, and plan a training event ALL at the same time!  Jeez, I'm still getting over the fact that I'm capable, able, and very willing to do all this considering the fact I sustained a left/right Traumatic Brain Injury nearly nine years ago and acknowledging the fact that I should have died that day.  But I'm happy I didn't.  Even though as annoying as this life can be, I get a major kick out of it.  Besides emailing my state, and contacts in the medical field, I am going to invite some of my favorite dj's to come to the event and see just what TBI Raiders is all about.  One of the dj's is TJ and I used to listen to him back when I was in high school.  But back then it was called the TJ and Tooker (I don't know if that's how you spelt his name) show.  It was hilarious when I was a senior and in my first hour period in which I was a senior aid to the teacher, Tooker came in because he was like running from somewhere back to OKC to the radio station.  I don't even remember why he was doing it....either someone dared him or he was talking and yacking about something.  I sent a request in to I think Brad B to play a song for my friends I grew up with in dance and all the other friends I knew grewing up who graduated from Chandler who graduated the year I did...which was in 1999.  I didn't have a certain song but I kept thinking it was a song by Boys II Men.  And now it finally comes to me, the song.  It was driving me nuts yesterday trying to think of it.  I think the name of it was "Yesterday".  But it was a song that talked about how hard it is to say goodbye to yesterday.  Everytime I hear that song, I'll bawl my eyes out for the simple fact a lot of memories I cherish will run through my head.  I'm the one in the picture who is not toothpick skinny and who has a "chest"...lol.  Well I'm off to relax and watch some tv.  Then it'll be time to fall asleep listening to KJ103.

    Planning

Sunday, August 20, 2006, 02:14 PM CST [General]

I'm quietly planning what to do in the way of recruiting volunteers for TBI Raiders Volunteer Service.  I went and looked to see which websites TBI Raiders was listed on and they are:

    • YouthActionNet
    • Campus Activism
    • Network for Good
    • Volunteer Match
    • Healthcare Volunteer
    • 1-800-Volunteer.org
    • Volunteer Center of Central Oklahoma
    • Foundation Center
    • idealist.org
    • Essembly.com

Then I have TBI Raiders listed on onesite.com and yahoo groups.  I'm waiting to see when FCCLA is going to become involved because I want them to be the main group who helps with a lot of the administrative things I do.  So I've been trying to think of who I can get to help with telling others about TBI Raiders.  As of right now I trust certain newspapers and certain radio stations than I trust the news media as far as helping with getting knowledge out about TBI Raiders.  Wish me luck because I'm going to need it!!!
